A free mp3 player is a compact device that stores, organizes and plays audio files. Mp3 players come in many different formats, but the most commonly used type today is the mp3 player that is built into cellular phones. The very first mp3 players were installed in cell phones in 2003 in South Korea, and the first artist to sell an mp3 download directly to a cell phone was Ricky Martin. By 2005, more than half of the music sold in South Korea was sold directly to cell phones, and the idea caught on and spread around the world.
By 2006, more mp3 players were sold in music phones than any other device which prompted the iphone in 2007 and today, more than half of all cellular phones in the world have built in free mp3 players.
Other free mp3 formats are: computer mp3 players and downloads, mobile mp3 players, iPod, iphone, CD and mp3 player. You can even have free mp3 players as part of your car stereo system, which means that all you have to do is plug in your mp3 players and you can listen to it as you drive. In 2005, it was estimated that over 140 million mp3 player units were in use over the world. Reports estimate the figure will jump to 286 million mp3 players by 2120. Three quarters of the phones sold will be free mp3 enabled cell phones.
There has been some controversy over the free mp3 downloads that people have been able to get over the past few years. The Napster website was a big hit, allowing anyone with an mp3 player on their computer, to download free mp3s with ease. This caused problems in the music industry because artists were loosing money on their CDs because nobody was purchasing them; they were simply downloading a free mp3.
Soon after, it became illegal to download a free mp3 on the internet, and instead anyone wishing to download music would have to pay a fee. But people are still able to get free mp3 music by downloading and sharing free mp3 music with their cell phones.
Mp3 players are the fastest growing music format of all time, faster than vinyl, cassette and even the CD, because MP3s are quick to download, cheap and store directly onto any mp3 device, so people don’t have to carry around any separate disks. Everything you need to enjoy music is right on one device and it is even better if it is on a free mp3.
